Kindred Spirits on the Roof (KSR) is a visual novel developed by Liar-Soft and published by MangaGamer. KSR tells the stories of 16 different girls and their loves for or relations to people who are in love with other girls. Going beyond the game, the Drama CDs take the world of KSR and give you side stories separate from the events within the game, but most definitely connected. The second volume of the KSR Drama CDs, Friendship Plans, comes with special backgrounds, voice clips for Kiri, Tsukuyo, Aki, and Youka; a digital version of the CD Booklet (translated, of course), and the original audio files for the CD as well as the video file for the Drama CD. In this volume, Kiri and Youka are trying to come up with new ways and places for them to take out their respective girlfriends and end up swapping plans for a fresh perspective on their dating habits.
Overall, the story is fantastic. While not a Michael Bay movie with explosions and plot thrown at you, the quaintness of the stories between the two couples as they go on their dates warms your heart. The movie file plays well on most of the computers I tried it out on (only one that didn’t work was a 10-year old laptop that was cheaply built even when I got it), so you don’t have to worry about your bread getting burnt in that toaster of yours! *cough* Okay, that was bad even for me.
Anyway, if you’re a fan of the Kindred Spirits on the Roof characters and story, Volume 2 of the Drama CDs (Friendship Plans) is a great pick up. For $9.95 USD on the MangaGamer site and $9.99 USD on Steam, I believe it’s worth it to buy. You don’t need to have Volume 1 (Playing Girlfriends) to get Volume 2, and don’t need to have the game to buy either of the Drama CDs as well. Have fun in the yuritopia and don’t get lost! Furthermore, look forward to the release of the third CD, Rain Kick, on June 17!
