Release Date: September 4th, 2018

Are you looking for some cute anime? How about tiny robots learning about feelings? Still have a need for robot battles? Well, Frame Arms Girl may be for you! With plenty of cute characters and a fight in every episode, this show was a nice way to cool down after watching My Hero Academia: Two Heroes the other day. Many thanks to Section23 for the review unit!

She’s super cute when cranky

Ao Gennai is the epitome of an average high-school girl. One day, a package is delivered to her door. Under the assumption that it’s from her father, she opens it to find a talking mini-girl robot, a Frame Arms Girl named Gourai. Gourai is the only one of her type in the world that’s activated and comes with plastic parts needed for virtual battles! In addition, the company that produced her wants more data and sends even more Frame Arms Girls to Ao’s home. With all these robot girls with the knowledge of 10-year-olds coming to her house to learn what feelings are, how will Ao’s life change?

What do you mean you and six others are gonna be staying here?

I very much enjoyed watching Frame Arms Girl. It’s quirky, doesn’t take itself too seriously, and the premise isn’t too horrid, even though Ao’s poems are. I liked the vast amount of personality each character had. The transformation sequences were nice, although a bit repetitive as transformation sequences are, and the day-to-day adventures of each girl was a fun watch. And the amount of fan service in it is both out there and subdued. There’s a vast amount of pantyshots, but considering the OP opens up with a pantyshot… you come to expect it.

EP 1 starts with this. You can’t be mad, bro.

The only real issue I had with Frame Arms Girls is the CG animation of the mini-robot girls. It was stilted and felt extremely stiff. The battles had no impact and were extremely lackluster visually, but the transformation sequences were on point and the pantyshots weren’t too over the top. However, the character personalities more than made up for the lacking visuals and the 2D parts are pretty good.

>.>…. they’re not wrong…

Overall, I enjoyed watching Frame Arms Girls. It was silly, wacky fun. It’s a nice look into human emotion without being too cliched and it has a bit of fun with it. For the retail price of $59.98 USD on the Sentai Filmworks store, I’d say catch it on sale. I’ll admit that I would feel gypped if I paid full price for the show, but it’s not inherently bad like some shows I’ve reviewed. Live vicariously through the case image of Ao eating toast with jam and enjoy the show. I know I did.

Lolinia gives Frame Arms Girl a Drastik Moé Measure of 6.8 out of 10.0 (68).
