Front Wars is a turn-based strategy game that takes place during WW2 (World War Two). You take control of either the Allied troops or the German Army. The game features 2 single player campaigns, the Allied Army and the German Army. There are 40+ missions.

Front Wars is a turn-based strategy game, meaning you and your opponent (AI or actual person) take turns moving your units on a grid based map. You will have, depending on your available buildings, access to 18 different units, troops, tanks, planes and ships. Every unit will cost you money, and you earn money by occupying cities. You can occupy neutral cities or even enemy owned ones.

Actual combat takes place when your unit gets close enough to fire on an enemy. You and your opponent’s troops take turns firing at each other, with the engaging unit taking its turn first. Your units, which in the case of troops that contain 10 soldiers each, will lose soldiers as you take damage and in turn will deal less damage the next time they are in combat. You can join units together to bring their number back up to 10.

You can build transport vehicles that can carry units much further than they can walk, and that can make all the difference in getting your troops the backup they may need. You can play single player, online multiplayer or pass and play multiplayer. I like the pass and play so I can play with my kids.

There is really no story just a bunch of different battles to play through. The art is really all about the cute factor. Whether infantry troops, tanks or bombers, all the units are totes cute. (Yes I used the word totes. I know, I know.) The attack animations are also pretty dang cute.

The music gets a bit annoying after a little while, but the sound fx are pretty neat. The map editor is pretty basic and easy to use, and once you have played it and won it on both the Allied and German side you can share it for others to use.

Front Wars is a pretty basic strategy game and if you are new to the genre or want to play casually it is a good game for you. If however you are looking for something deep, serious and advanced then you may want to skip it
