Third to last episode of this season was surprisingly even less lewd than the one before the previous episode. That is not necessarily a bad thing in this case, though. It is normal for comedy series to get a few serious or, at least, half-serious drama moments, especially nearing the end. As sad as it might be, we are definitely slowly but surely nearing the end with this episode. Not that the entire episode was serious or anything like that, but it wasn’t as funny as many others. However, that seems to have been on purpose.
The first skit is mostly the reason I mentioned how comedy shows sometimes have serious moments near the end of the show since most of the first half of this episode was about another new invention, one that is supposed to require Tanaka to grope Ueno, but she is always so nervous and excited when those situations come up that she pre-emptively activates the machine, which is obviously funny in the comedy setting. Near the end of this segment, we get a bit where Ueno is seemingly honest and serious when she cries, all of it benefitting a comedic effect, but at the same time, it felt slightly less of a joke moment than most others.
Second half is very low on sexual stuff but is pretty cool and goes by quickly. It’s about yet another new invention, and this time, it’s the gloves which are designed for hair removal. Ueno wants Tanaka to touch her bare legs to remove any hair she has, but this then devolves into Tanaka asking Yamashita and other girls about whether their legs grow hair or not, which is, at the very least, conceptually very funny. I also appreciate the Ashita no Joe reference they made.
All in all, not really what I was necessarily expecting for one of the very last episodes, but it did not disappoint either way. I look forward to the next episode, which should be the second to last. It’s definitely getting clear we’re nearing the end, which is a bit sad, as I’d like for it to go on a bit more but I suppose it can’t be helped. See you in the next review!
