Are you ready for a ride so full of love it can border on corny? Need something in your life that’s heartwarming, but also changes up the story enough so you don’t get bored of watching the almost corny love? Well, Sentai Filmworks and Section23 have got you covered with the Amagami SS/SS+ Complete Collection (Amagami)! Jam-packed with 39 episodes of multiple love stories, Amagami is sure to entice romantics with an enjoyable viewing pleasure. Many thanks to Section23 for the review unit!

Amagami is about the love life of Junichi Tachibana. Two years prior to the main story, he waited for a date that never showed and gave up on love. Now in high school, the love of six young maidens awaits! Or, at least, he manages to find love with the girls in his daily life. However, this isn’t a harem. There are six main arcs to which all the episodes belong (minus the OVAs). Watch Junichi find hope in love with either the ditzy and fun-loving senpai, the tomboy, the shy junior, the slightly tsundere junior, the childhood friend, or the class rep.

Amagami is a real joy to watch if you don’t mind slice of life and romance. Even with a major part of the experience being unscrupulously spoiled for me thanks to a fellow colleague (which deeply decreased my joy by quite a bit), the show was still a nice watch. I loved how the episodes didn’t focus completely on one person even though they were showing the story of one girl at a time. The world-building in the anime’s direction was very good and told a good story with each arc. The music was bouncy when it needed to be and deeply impactful at other times. With comedy and romance, I found myself smiling more often than not while watching.

As a conclusion, the Amagami SS/SS+ Complete Collection is definitely worth the listed price of $79.98 USD on the Sentai Filmworks store (though it currently has a lower price as of the writing of this article). For two seasons of an anime, plus two OVAs, clean OPs/EDs, and a pretty heartwarming story, Amagami is definitely a series I’d love to watch again in the future. If I had to pick a favorite arc, it would probably be the Sae arc if only for the suberb narration during that arc. Seriously, give each arc a try and enjoy the world that is chockful of playful love bites.

Lolinia gives Amagami SS/SS+ a Drastik Measure of 7.8 out 10.0 (78).
