Nyanpasu! Let’s say during your childhood, you had to move somewhere else due to your parent’s work or something. Remember how easily you made friends (or didn’t if you’re going the Hachiman route)? Let’s say you moved from the big city to a small country area. How would your life change? What memories would you create? What stories could you tell? Sentai Filmworks saves you the trouble of building a time machine out of your microwave to experience those feelings by releasing the Non Non Biyori Complete Collection! Many thanks to Section23 for the review unit.

Hotaru Ichijou has just moved from Tokyo to a small village in the country. The things that she is used to happening in her daily life are now a bit different. Her new school has only five students, including herself, and they are all in the same classroom. Luckily for her, the kids are open and welcoming. Life in the countryside won’t be as hard as some people would make it out to be, after all! See the stories of their young lives unfold before you in Non Non Biyori and Non Non Biyori Repeat!

Jelly donuts!

Ah, this show is really good. I mean it. Non Non Biyori is a very relaxed slice-of-life show that can tug at the heartstrings when it wants. From Hotaru’s reactions to Komari to Renge’s summer heartbreak, the series as a whole makes you feel the feelings of the characters. Part of that is the storytelling for each episode, but also the music and facial animations. The more I watched, the more I enjoyed the faces more than the episode’s story. The only want I had of the series was a dub. Imagining Monica Rial as Koma-chan and Jad Saxton as Hotaru were only a few of the fantasy bookings I had during my watch.

Overall, I really liked watching Non Non Biyori and really enjoyed Non Non Biyori Repeat. It’s not often that a show’s second season is an actual repeat of the first season, but in a different light. With a retail value of $79.98 USD on the Sentai Filmworks store, the Complete Collection is worth every penny. With commentaries and other goodies, you get plenty of extra content to go along with the series. Plus, the disc art and menu art are really nice and nano.RIPE is my musical crack right now. That’s all for today’s anime review.

Lolinia gives Non Non Biyori Complete Collection a Drastik Moé Measure of 8.5 out of 10.0 (85).
