Looking for love? Check. Need more drama in a series that doesn’t have an exhaustively extensive universe and decades of material to sift through? Check. Cute girls? Double check. Want an anime that isn’t based in a middle or high school? Let’s look no further than Golden Time! Produced by J.C. Staff, licensed by Sentai Filmworks, and distributed by Section23, Golden Time will have you partying like the tea club with its comedy, drama, and romance. Many thanks to Section23 for the review unit!

Golden Time is mainly from the perspective of amnesiac Banri Tada. While standing on a bridge the day his after high-school graduation, a scooter knocks him off of it and he loses all his memories from before the accident. Instead of wallowing in self-pity over the memory loss, he decides to go to Law school. There, he meets an assortment of new and old people and even finds love. However, there’s more to Banri than meets the eye in this romantic comedy.

The show is absolutely amazing. The drama is perfectly balanced with the comedy. Banri’s dilemma as he experiences the college life and the romance that ensues later made the show feel extremely relatable. I had plenty of laughs and even shed a few tears. Some parts of the story was confusing, but for the most part, Golden Time was an enjoyable watch and I’d watch it again with my buds soon. Plus, the Tea Club is glorious.

Overall, I recommend Golden Time if you’re looking to step a little out of the average high-school romcom with a show that has a bit more of an adult touch. For the current price of $45.49 USD on the Sentai Filmworks store, I feel that Golden Time is worth the price if you want to watch a romcom and slice of college life show. Or if you want to join Sao-chan and Shi-chan in the Tea Club. Let’s go Tea Club Bowling!
Lolinia gives Golden Time a Drastik Moé Measure of 7.5 out 10.0 (75).
PS. Beware of Scoot-Scoot.
