At the half-way episode of the show, we get a lot of new info about some things and there is quite a bit of satisfactory progress made on certain fronts of Naofumi’s fight, while, at the same time, certain fights don’t go quite as well. Either way, this was a pretty exciting episode, even if it didn’t go in quite the direction I expected it to.

At the start of the episode, we continue from where we last left off, which was a fight with Glass. The fight doesn’t last for long but it’s quite clear who the victor is, even if it ends on a technicality. Even though the fight doesn’t go that well for Naofumi, we learn a lot about his opponent and she seems like she will be quite the legitimate rival and, possibly, a villain. I say possibly, as she didn’t quite seem to be an ally of the Waves. Seeing her again definitely makes me excited for when the next Wave happens.

Aside from that fight, we get Naofumi basically telling the King to fuck himself, which was amazing to watch. I also hate royalty and monarchy and I’m very much in agreement with Naofumi’s sentiments these past couple of episodes. It saddens me that he will probably mellow out on his hatred of the royalty as he did on other things, but, at least for now, he’s awesome when he threatens the King. Melty hates how they fight, however, as she thinks they should not only work together but also be allies in the fight against Waves. She also makes for quite a cliffhanger at the end of the episode.

The half-way point of the series is quite a strong one. It would be awful if it got weaker in the second half of the season, but I doubt that will be the case since the novels are well received and this is largely based on those. I’m quite excited for the second half of the season and I hope you’ll join me in the next episode’s review!
