Three episodes in and we are finally introduced to a new character – Kitanaga, a swimming club captain that has tasked Ueno with inventing a special machine which prevents voyeurism by applying a convenient censor to the critical areas of the body. Thus, a similar attempt at subverting the voyeuristic sense to that of the first episode, but, this time, the other person is wholly naked.
Aside from an attempt at subverting but, to a degree, also playing the voyeurism fetish straight, there was also the second half, which was about indirect kisses through another pointless but fun invention. Although the episode’s themes this time were milder than the first and especially the second episode, I still laughed my ass off at how most scenes were handled.
In other words, the voice actors are still as excellent as ever and, without them, the show wouldn’t be nearly as good as it is. Besides voice acting, the animation is so good, especially when one of the characters starts freaking out and turns into a tomato-head.
The new character is cool; we see her in the opening and finally meet her this episode. She seems to like teasing Ueno, which will be an interesting dynamic in the future. Also, I definitely hope we get even more of the girls from the intro soon, but there is still plenty of time since it’s only the third episode. Assuming it’s a standard 12 episode season format, we should quickly start seeing many more of the characters that are shown to us.
All in all, a solid episode; while it definitely made me laugh, it wasn’t able to top episode 2, except for a single scene where I couldn’t stop laughing for a couple of seconds. If there was one complaint, it would be that it’s milder than the previous episodes and I hope the episodes coming after it will not be even milder, but even if they are, as long as they maintain the comedy, that can be forgiven. In conclusion, I definitely recommend checking it out.
