Hakoniwa Explorer Plus is fairly cheap and entertaining. However, it is also a short game. Even shorter depending on the difficulty, as you start off with a higher level and some strong items. The use of lewd themes in the game adds a unique feel. If you run up on any character from behind, you grab their butts. If they are on a ledge below you, you walk on their heads. Do it to some characters too often and they try to kill you. You can also just straight up kill NPCs in towns for the hell of it. Watch your Grudge stat, though! Also, watch out for the boss that tries to kill you with her vag…. Yes, that is a thing! For $9.99 (USD) on Steam, it isn’t a bad deal. If you want a longer title, then hold off for a sale. However, the game is definitely worth the price of entry.
Pros:
- Very well done pixel art style with throwback to retro pixel art mechanics
- Great use of lewd…ness
- Easy to pick up, difficult to master
- Pretty good soundtrack, including various tracks
- Extremely fun
Mileage May Vary:
- Odd story. Entertaining at times but hard to follow
- Combat seems basic, as there are no combos or skill trees
Cons:
- Gets very repetitive very quickly
- Not a very long game
- Items break too quickly
- Not enough inventory slots
