Need more cuteness in your life? How about a healthy dose of cute girls doing cute things? Well, this review has you covered! Hana & Hina After School is a cute yuri manga series licensed in English by Seven Seas Entertainment. It’s a fun story showing the lives of these two girls and Volume 1 is a great start. Many thanks to Seven Seas for the review unit!
Hana is a second-year middle school student with a secret: She’s working! Jobs of any sort are strictly forbidden by her school and if she gets caught, Hana could be expelled. Enter tall, stylish Hina, another girl with a secret!… passion for stuffed animal characters. Hina starts working at the same store as Hana and Hana is happy to help her new ‘kouhai’ worker with the job. However, Hina is even better at the job than Hana is! To top it off, Hina is a year younger than her, contrary to Hana’s beliefs. Hana & Hina After School volume 1 is the start of their friendship to each other.

I thoroughly enjoyed reading Hana & Hina After School volume 1. The art-style is fluffy and cute. The story is easy to follow and makes you want to read more. The character interactions between Hana and Hina really adds depth to the story and their character profiles. While there’s no actual music (after all, this is a manga), as I read the book, I could hear light music playing as if the author had that in mind as s/he wrote. I know that’s probably not the case, but the story is so cute and light-hearted that it felt that way.
In summation, I very much think that Hana & Hina After School volume 1 is worth buying if you’re into slice-of-life yuri-themed manga. For the price of $12.99 USD at your retailer-of-choice, I do recommend getting this volume to those interested. I am very much looking forward to Volume 2 when it releases. I really want to see how this story pans out. After all, I’m a sucker for school anime/manga.
Lolinia gives Hana & Hina After School volume 1 a Drastik Moé Measure of 7.8 out of 10.0 (78).
