Another episode with some unexpected things happening. A few of them unlike the last episode. But more is not always better; this episode had some quite good moments but also some that are less so. Overall, it was okay, but not very special.
It builds upon the last episode where they are fighting the Pope. Surprises that we get are that the Pope has what is supposed to be an ultimate weapon way out of his level range, so he has to use a bunch of believers constantly praying for him to be able to generate enough mana for the weapon’s magic, and the two heroes believed to have been killed join the heroes in their stand against the Church. They need to hold out long enough for the Queen’s punitive forces to arrive and give the heroes a helping hand, but it seems that they are all in disarray as they argue among each other.
Now, the arguing portions were rather fun and even light-hearted despite the situation they are in. Naofumi’s cleared of all charges, at least as far as Myne and the other heroes are concerned, but then he also gives all of them a mouthful over having fucked up a lot, him having to fix their messes and begrudgingly having to let it all go for the duration of the anti-papal fight because, otherwise, they have no chance of survival. I enjoyed those portions despite their somewhat weird time and place.
The fight that is coming in the next episode seems like it will be an exciting one. Pope is an asshole, but that is nothing new and I obviously expect him to lose. But I hope to see some cool spells and moves during the fight, especially seeing the power of his weapon, allowing him to just conjure up a cathedral-looking dome to prevent them from escaping and anyone else from joining the fight.
