Tokyo Babel – PC Review – by Lolinia

Genre: Adventure

Tokyo Babel is, in my humble opinion, the BEST visual novel on Steam. The action, the scenes, the comedy, and presentation of it all is top-notch. Published to a western audience by MangaGamer and developed by propeller, Tokyo Babel is a choice-driven visual novel loosely-based upon the Bible. With characters ranging from devils and angels alike, and themes ranging from ‘Who am I?’ to ‘What is my purpose in life?’, Tokyo Babel will have you questioning your life in positive ways. Not only that, but you also have LOADS of comedy and awesome art and just plain-old great storytelling.

The characters are likeable, music is superb, and the storytelling is excellent. All of it works together to tell you a tale that one will not forget. The only problem I had with the game was with the video and effects ripping when they should’ve been smoother than butter and there were some sound effects that really shouldn’t be repeated so much for slow readers. (They can hurt the ears quite a bit.) To make up for that, though, the voice cast is amazing and a plethora of voices can be recognized from popular anime.

Overall, Tokyo Babel is an amazing buy. In fact, if I ever get the money, I will own this game not only on the MangaGamer website, but also on Steam. It is that good. You can head over to Steam to buy it for $34.99 USD or you can save a few pennies and buy it on the MangaGamer site for $34.95 USD. Either way you buy it, it’s an amazing game to have in your game library and I cannot recommend it enough.

Pros:

  • Amazing OST
  • Superb character development
  • Impressive storytelling
  • Many save spaces
  • Outstanding comedy
  • Vocal orgasm

Cons:

  • Videos and effects can have screen tearing as if running at 18 frames a second
  • Sound effects can be annoying
  • Some effects break typesetting.

Lolinia gives Tokyo Babel a Drastik Measure 9.4 out of 10.0 (94).

PS. Samael is waifu.
