Sound of Drop ~fall into poison~ is a Horror-themed, mystery visual novel developed by AIEOU Kompany and published by Sekai Project. Sound of Drop ~fall into poison~ (now shortened to just SoD) uses classic psychological stimuli to incorporate a mystery into this visual novel that truly engrosses you a little into what is happening at Manten Aquarium. Many thanks to Sekai Project for the review key!

SoD starts out following two middle schoolers, Mayumi and Himeno. Through a prologue-esque start of the game, they end up agreeing to go to an aquarium that is surrounded in rumors of death, mysterious disappearances, and strange sightings. Once there, the story mainly follows Mayumi as she goes deeper into aquarium building. While there are many choices, the story seems almost kinetic in nature, so I won’t go too much into the story. However, the mystery factor makes the story well worth it. The audio production is top notch for SoD. Sound effects are often used to convey feelings of unease to go along the music. The music itself is rather well crafted, if not a tiny bit bland after listening to some of the themes over and over.

The game feels a bit short story wise… if you get lucky with your choices. If not, be ready to spend an entire day just getting halfway through the VN if you’re a slow reader such as myself. The amount of endings total to just over 30, with nearly 90% of those endings being ‘bad ends’. The game is a little unforgiving and will kill you for rational decisions at times. Will you choose to be sane or a bit insane as you traverse Manten Aquarium? While, it may feel short, the game has plenty of content for the average reader to enjoy leisurely.

For the price of $12.99 USD, Sound of Drop ~fall into poison~ is definitely a game I’d invest in, especially if on sale. The game is an easygoing read that one can enjoy without getting sucked too hard into the story and forgetting to go to a doctor’s appointment. Overall, it’s a quite enjoyable little story and great for a casual reading day. Happy Halloween, everyone!

Lolinia gives Sound of Drop ~fall into poison~ a Drastik Measure 7.0 out of 10.0 (70).
