Feel: It’s a tour guide of Japan. And a dating sim, in a way. The story for the love feels forced, but you only make three choices per time playing the game.
Pros: VERY INFORMATIVE. After double checking with a few of my native Japan friends, the amount of cultural information in this game is incredible. The music is also very easy-listening. The characters are also likeable, even the dumb main character. The game also allows you to display the text in both Japanese and English at the same time, allowing for easy studying if you are learning the language as well.
Cons: Not many choices. You can choose between six areas to visit, but the “story” only allows you to choose three per time you play the game.
Overall Thoughts: I love it. It’s very informative and handles itself well, despite the forced love story. The characters are unique, save for the generic main character who supposedly studied Japanese extensively but doesn’t know what “itadakimasu” means. SERIOUSLY. HOW DO YOU LEARN JAPANESE FLUENTLY AND NOT LEARN THE MEANING OF THAT ACTION?! >.> Among other things, the main character strikes me as very dumb, but still likeable and, admittedly, he makes the game fun and you gain more information because of it. While I personally don’t like the storyline, it’s still handled rather well, despite its forced nature. Definitely a valuable resource for the traveller headed to Japan.
