World End Economica episode 1 (shortened to WEE1) is a kinectic visual novel developed by Spicy Tails and published by Sekai Project. Written by the creator of Spice and Wolf, WEE1 will definitely be in your alley if you enjoyed Spice and Wolf. Taking place in the distant future, mankind has created cities on the moon. WEE1 shows how the rich become richer and takes a stab at the core of human greed with a love story intertwined.

The game starts out with our protagonist Yoshiharu Kawaura, a runaway who trades on the Moon’s stock market. Through certain circumstances, he meets two females: Hagana and Lisa. Lisa takes him into her church and gives him the nickname of Hal, so that the police won’t be looking for him in that neighborhood. It is there that another series of events leads to Hal working alongside Hagana in an investment contest. While this may seem very spoilery, I assure you that you will need to read the novel and see that I left quite a bit out, including [redacted] and [redacted] and how, at the end, [redacted] to [redacted] and all hell broke loose.

Technical-wise, the game is a bit of a mess. It works for getting through the game, but it can be a bit disturbing to see the characters suddenly jump on the screen, making you think you saw something instead of thinking it was an effect of the game. The music itself is awesome, but the repeats are harshly cut and are very jarring. There’s no voice acting, but that does not take away from the game whatsoever. WEE1 is a great game storywise, but it can definitely be a bit difficult to get through.

All in all, the game is very enjoyable. If it weren’t for some of the technical issues with it, this game would be near perfect. The story was great and the characters were relatable in their own ways. World End Economica episode 1 is $12.99 USD on Steam and totally worth it. However, currently until October 19th, 2015, select Sekai Project games are on sale and WEE1 happens to be 50% off. Go get it while you can!

Lolinia gives World End Economica episode 1 a Drastik Measure 6.8 out of 10.0 (68).
